The notification for the most-awaited Teachers' Eligibility Test (TET) - 2021 for Lower Primary (LP) and Upper Primary (UP) level for the state of Assam has been announced by the Member Secretary, Empowered Committee on Elementary TET, Government of Assam. Assam TET 2021 will be held on October 24, 2021, and the online application procedure will begin on September 15, 2021.




The Government of Assam has decided to hold the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) 2021 for both Lower Primary and Upper Primary levels for the state of Assam, in accordance with Section 23 of the RTE Act - 2009. TET 2021 will be held in accordance with NCTE norms, and all qualified permanent residents of Assam are entitled to apply for Paper I (Lower Primary) and Paper-II (Upper Primary) of TET.

Eligibility Criteria of TET Exam:

Resident-ship: The candidate must be an Assam permanent resident.


Qualification Assam TET Exam: 
 
Lower Primary TET (Classes I to V):
 
a) Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a 2-year Elementary Education Diploma (by whatever name known)

 OR

Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with a minimum of 50% and a four-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed)

OR

Senior Secondary (or it's equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education) 

OR

Graduation and two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known) 

OR

Graduation with at least 50% marks and a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) from any recognized institution are required for appointment as a primary school teacher, with the caveat that the person so appointed must complete a six-month Bridge Course in Elementary Education recognized by NCTE within two years of their appointment as a primary school teacher.


b) A person who is enrolled in and has received an admit card for the final year examination of any of the teacher education programs (approved by the NCTE or the RCI, as the case may be) listed in the NCTE Guideline of February 11, 2011, is eligible to apply for TET. However, he can only apply for a position after obtaining all of the necessary qualifications.

Remark: Please refer to Clause B under the title Relaxation for candidates who were admitted to the D.El.Ed program prior to August 31, 2009.


Upper Primary TET (Classes VI to VIII):
 
a) Graduation and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known)

 OR

Graduation with at least 50% marks and 1-year Bachelor in Education (B. Ed)
 
OR

Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B. El. Ed). 

OR

Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4-year B.A./B. Sc. Ed. Or B.A. Ed/B. Sc. Ed. 

OR

Graduation with at least 50% marks and 1-year B. Ed. (Special Education)

b) A person who is enrolled in and has received an admit card for the final year examination of any of the teacher education programs (approved by the NCTE or the RCI, as the case may be) listed in the NCTE Guideline of February 11, 2011, is eligible to apply for TET. Remark: Candidate those who were admitted in 1-Year B.Ed. program before 31st August 2009 please refer to Clause C under subheading Relaxation. 
 
Relaxation: 
 
The following relaxation will be applicable

For candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/MOBC/PWD(PH) to appear in TET (the degree of handicap in case of PH candidates must be a minimum of 40% and must be certified by the competent authority), a relaxation of up to 5% in the academic marks in HSSLC or Graduation shall be applicable, both for Paper-| (LP Level) and Paper-ll (LP Level) (UP Level).

For Paper-I (LP Level), candidates who were admitted to 2-Year D.EI.Ed before 31/08/2009 as per NCTE Notification No. F.51-1/2009-NCTE (N&S) dated 31/08/2009 and qualified 2-Year D.El.Ed thereafter would be given a 5% HSSLC mark relaxation.

For Paper-ll (UP Level), candidates who were admitted to 1-Year B.Ed. before 31/08/2009 as per NCTE Notification No. F.51-1/2009-NCTE (N&S) dated 31 August 2009 and qualified 1-Year B.Ed. afterward will be eligible for a 5-percentage-point increase in their graduation marks.

Minimum Marks to Qualify in TET

A candidate is required to score 60 % i.e. 90 marks out of 150 to qualify for the Teachers’Eligibility Test (TET). However, for SC/ST (Hills)/ST (Plain)/OBC/MOBC/PWD (PH), there will be a relaxation of 5 %. Thus, for these candidates, qualifying marks will be 83 out of 150 i.e. 55 %.

Note: 
 
A.Candidates who intend to appear in both the papers i.e. Paper I and Paper II will have to pay the fee for both the papers separately and will have to submit an Online Application accordingly at one go.

B. Candidates must pay the examination fee through online mode only.


C.Fee once paid will not be refunded.


Assam  TET Exam Zones  2021:

The districts have been divided into zones, and while applying for the TET, a candidate must choose his chosen zone. According to Government Notification No PMA.277/2019/7-A dated 22/08/2019, after passing the TET, he or she will be given preference for employment as a teacher in his or her preferred Zone.

This will apply to both permanent and temporary positions.
